Kwe! At Kitiganik Kinamagewin School, we honour who our students are, where they come from, and the land that sustains us. Our school is a welcoming space where children grow academically, culturally, emotionally, and spiritually — supported by dedicated staff, community knowledge keepers, and the strength of our Anicinabe identity. We believe education is a shared journey. Families, Elders, Staff, and community members all play a vital role in supporting our students. Together, we help them grow with confidence, pride, and purpose.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide a holistic, culturally rooted education that honors our First Nations identity, values, and ways of knowing. We nurture the whole child- mind, body, spirit and emotions- through the teachings of our elders, the strength of our traditions, and the guidance of our community.

We are committed to teaching academic learning that empowers students to think critically, solve problems, and develop strong literacy and numeracy skills. Academics excellence and cultural knowledge stand together, ensuring students gain the competencies they need to thrive in both contemporary society and their own Nation.

We strive to revitalize, protect, and promote our language as the foundation of who we are, ensuring it is lived, spoken, and passed on to future generations. Our school is a place where culture is not taught but practiced daily through land-based learning and traditional knowledge.

We empower our students to walk proudly in both worlds- grounded in their identity as Acininabe people while equipped academic skills, cultural strength, and confidence to shape their future and carry forward the strength of our Nation.

Our Vision

Our vision is thriving learning community where every student feels values, seen, heard, and supported. We envision a school where Anicinabe language, culture, and land-based teachings guide our path, shaping confident, capable, and compassionate individuals.

We want our students to succeed in whatever they choose to become, walking proudly in their identity, grounded in community, and empowered with academic, cultural, and personal strengths needed to pursue their goals with confidence and purpose.
